Mahama’s inaugural speech

John Dramani Mahama has officially begun his term as Ghana’s sixth President of the Fourth Republic, having taken both the oath of allegiance and the presidential oath. The swearing-in ceremony took place on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at Parliament and the iconic Black Star Square in Accra, and was conducted by Ghana’s Chief Justice, Gertrude Torkornoo.

This momentous occasion also saw Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang being inaugurated as Ghana’s first female Vice-President, marking a significant milestone in the nation’s political journey.

John Mahama’s return to the presidency follows his previous term as Ghana’s fourth President from January 7, 2013, to January 6, 2017, and reflects a renewed commitment to serving the people of Ghana.
